Respite Care in Newton Abbot
Sometimes a family carer needs a break. Sometimes a loved one is recovering from an illness or a stay in hospital and needs extra support before returning home. Respite care is there for exactly these moments.
At Somerforde Residential Care in Newton Abbot, we offer respite care for older people who need short-term residential support. Whether that is for a few days, a couple of weeks, or longer, we will do our best to help.
What is respite care?
Respite care is a temporary stay in a care home. It gives the person staying a safe, comfortable place to live for a period of time, with meals, personal care, and support from trained staff included.
For family carers, it provides a genuine rest, knowing their loved one is being looked after. For the person staying, it can be a chance to recover, to socialise, and to try life at Somerforde before deciding whether a permanent move might be right for them in the future.
Flexible stays, no minimum
We do not have a minimum stay requirement for respite care at Somerforde. We understand that every situation is different, and we will work with families to find an arrangement that fits.
Whether you need care for a week while you recover from an operation, or a longer stay while more permanent arrangements are made, please get in touch and we will talk through what is possible.
